The CA Final exam is India’s last and most important stage of the Chartered Accountancy course. It tests your knowledge, skills, and understanding of advanced topics in accounting, auditing, law, taxation, and more. If you’re planning to appear for the CA Final September 2025 exam, it’s essential to first check if you’re eligible as per ICAI’s official guidelines.
This guide will help you understand the complete eligibility criteria in simple and clear terms so you can move ahead confidently with your CA journey.
What Is the CA Final Exam?
The CA Final exam is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It is the third and final level of the Chartered Accountancy course, after CA Foundation and CA Intermediate. Clearing the CA Final exam makes you eligible to apply for ICAI membership and become a chartered accountant.
CA Final Eligibility Criteria 2025 Requirements
To register for the CA Final, you must first clear the Intermediate level (formerly IPCC). In the intermediate exams, you need to score at least 40% in each subject and a minimum of 50% overall in one or both groups to pass.
The CA course includes three main stages:
- Foundation
- Intermediate
- Final
You must pass each stage to move to the next. However, ICAI allows certain eligible candidates (like graduates) to skip the Foundation level and directly enroll in the Intermediate stage.
To become eligible for the CA Final exam, you must:
- Register for the Final course
- Complete the required articleship training under a practicing Chartered Accountant
